Bill was born in downtown Atlanta, moved to Snellville and graduated from South Gwinnett High. He attended Georgia Southern University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Printing Management. A few years after graduating from college, Bill purchased a small print shop in Glennville, GA where he has lived since. Bill married Kathy (Baker) Werkheiser in 1984.
Rep. Werkheiser and his wife, Kathy, live in Glennville and are members of the Glennville First Baptist Church. Kathy is a registered nurse working as a travel labor and delivery nurse. They have four children and nine grandchildren.
This committee deals with the issues surrounding labor and management relations. It also has jurisdiction on matters dealing with Worker’s Compensation and Georgia’s Worker’s Compensation Board.
During the Budget process, we fund the Department of Corrections, Georgia State Patroll, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia Public Safety Training Center, Attorney General, Department of Community Supervison, Department of Juvenile Justice, State Board of Pardon and Parole, Office of Highway Safety and a few other agencies.
This committee handles legislation pertaining to law enforcement and safety issues facing Georgia. This committee considers all gun bills.
This committee is responsible for legislation concerning the energy, gas, electric, and other related industry areas. It is also responsible for the rules and regulations concerning the telecommunications industry.
Formerly known as Children and Youth, the Committee was recreated during the 2013 legislative session to serve more as a judiciary committee over juvenile related issues.
This committee provides oversight of the Georgia Building Authority, which manages facilities for state agencies and administers all state property transactions, including both buildings and land acquisitions.
This newly established committee addresses both natural and energy resource challenges arising from Georgia’s robust business growth. Our mission is to develop solutions that balance economic expansion with responsible resource management.
