Georgia’s government is made up of citizen part-time legislators, not career politicians and I believe it should be that way. As your State Representative, I care about your concerns and work diligently as your voice in Atlanta.
As a husband, father, and small business owner growing up in rural Georgia, I think it’s important to reflect the values that made raising a family such a great place.
Thanks for allowing me to serve you. I am more effective only if I hear from you when we are discussing and voting on issues that affect you. Much of this website is dedicated to that end. Most of everything we do is open to the public. The legislative process is live streamed and archived so that you can know what we are doing and can be found here.
Bill believes that strengthening our rural economy, supporting law enforcement officers and first responders, and defending our Constitutional rights. Our future depends on what we do right now in early education. Improving Georgia’s low third grade literacy rates may be the most important job ahead of us. Bill believes in limited government and getting government out of the way is the answer to creating more jobs and growing the local economy.
The cornerstone of Georgia's future lies in sustaining our reputation as the nation's premier state for business while expanding economic opportunities in every community. This vision drove me to seek public office – I wanted to ensure our youth could choose to build their lives and raise families in their hometowns.
Yet today, many young Georgians face barriers that limit this choice: a shortage of affordable housing, scarce high-paying jobs, and limited healthcare access. Our rural communities particularly feel these challenges. The solution lies in smart state policies that empower local initiatives, fostering business innovation and developing workforce housing. Through this approach, we can strengthen rural Georgia and create the opportunities our next generation deserves.
Public safety forms the bedrock of prosperous communities. When crime undermines security, it prevents families and businesses from flourishing. The brave men and women serving as first responders and law enforcement officers protect our communities daily, often at great personal risk. They merit our full support through competitive compensation and policies that enhance both their effectiveness and safety.
Those who deliberately harm others or damage property must face appropriate consequences. Criminal acts like rioting and looting undermine legitimate peaceful protest and civil discourse. We must be particularly vigilant against gang violence, especially when it targets vulnerable populations like youth and disabled individuals. Georgia's laws should create strong deterrents against criminal behavior while ensuring justice is administered fairly and effectively.
Our four children were homeschooled before transitioning to traditional schooling, I've experienced firsthand the value of educational flexibility and excellence. Quality education shapes not just our children's futures, but the destiny of our state and nation. While I strongly support parental choice in education, I believe we can implement school choice programs while maintaining robust support for our public schools – these goals can and should coexist.
Our state's most critical educational priority must be ensuring every child achieves grade-level reading proficiency by third or fourth grade. This fundamental skill serves as the foundation for all future learning and success.
Agriculture stands as Georgia's leading industry, with our state leading the nation in forestry production. The four counties I represent deeply depend on agriculture and forestry for their economic vitality. Our farmers and foresters provide essential resources we rely on daily - from the food on our tables to the fiber in our clothes and the materials that build our homes.
In the wake of Hurricane Helene's devastating impact, which inflicted unprecedented damage on our agricultural communities, we must mobilize comprehensive support for our farmers and forestry workers. Their recovery is crucial not just for their livelihoods, but for our state's continued prosperity.
Every tax dollar comes from the hard work of Georgia's citizens. Throughout my service, I've consistently acted on this principle by supporting lower income tax rates and voting for every measure that returns money to taxpayers' pockets. My record demonstrates an unwavering commitment to letting Georgians keep more of what they earn.
Transparency is central to our legislative process. You can watch every committee meeting in real-time or review archived recordings through links on this website. The legislative process welcomes direct citizen input - you're invited to sign up and share your testimony during committee hearings. Our Chamber sessions are also streamed live, and every vote I cast is documented and archived, providing you clear insight into my positions on key issues.
I value your perspective and encourage you to reach out with your views as we consider legislation that affects our community. Your input helps shape better policy for Georgia.
